This last weekend my Girlfriend and I had a mission. That mission was to find ourselves a dildo suitable for pegging. Now, I know what you’re thinking, how is it that *I*, owner of hundreds of dildos, don’t have a single toy suitable for pegging?
To that I have two answers. One, my girlfriend wanted something small and very beginner friendly and a lot of what I have is going to be big and girthy. Two, I packed all my toys up into bins in an effort to tidy up my space, now I don’t know where anything is and I have no energy to figure it out.
And this is how we found ourselves at Smitten Kitten in Minneapolis, staring at a wall of dildos, looking for the perfect toy.
Pegging down the details.
We had a few requirements while shopping for this dildo, one of which was that it needed to be beginner friendly. Like, extremely, beginner friendly. My Girlfriend is pretty new to anal. She described her previous experience with butt stuff as being “not great” so I really wanted to find a toy that would be comfortable and turn “not great” into “great!” Or at the very least, “not bad.”
Next it needed to be affordable! Believe it or not, reviewing sex toys has not yet made me a millionaire (but eventually it will… right?) We also needed a dildo that was a softish silicone, something that felt a little more forgiving when inserted (nothing hard like glass, metal, or even overly firm silicone) and it definitely needed to have a length and girth on the smaller end. We also needed it to have an anal friendly flared base and be compatible with a harness (I probably should have listed this as our number one requirement). It also didn’t hurt if the dildo was pretty.
So, did we find what we were looking for? Did we get the perfect dildo? Well, I think we got pretty close – the Lovely Planet Dilldolls Utopia.
We were waffling between a couple of different toys, we had narrowed our choices down to the Fuze Star, the Hole Punch Simon Peg and the Dilldolls Utopia. In the end, the Utopia checked off more of our boxes and came home with us.
The Dilldolls Utopia fit perfectly into our harness, I figured it would when we bought it, but it was a relief to see that it really did. We just own a very basic harness O-ring harness from Sportsheets, so the Utopia should fit most harness types I would imagine. I’m still a newb when it comes to pegging, so things were a little awkward and it was hard to find the right position, but after a bit we switched to just using the dildo by hand and it also worked exceptionally well that way.
The Utopia is definitely a dildo on the smaller side. It has a total length of 6.5 inches, and insertable length of 5.83 inches, and a diameter of 1.38 inches at the tapered head and 1.63 inches at the shaft above the base. Which ended up being the perfect size for our needs.
The shaft is very smooth, no texture, which was also great for our purposes as a super beginner anal toy. This is totally just my opinion, but I feel like texture can be a little too much when you are first starting out. My brain can personally only process so much stimuli and when I’m trying something new, I can quickly get overwhelmed.
Butt wait, that’s not all!
The Dilldolls Utopia is not just for anal, don’t let me give you the wrong idea! If I’m being honest with you (and I always will be) I had to stop this review mid-sentence and ask my Girlfriend if she wanted to help me test the hypothesis that the Dilldolls dildo was in fact great for finding the G-Spot. After some rigorous testing, extensive research, plotting of data points, and peer review… I can say, with confidence, that this dildo is ideal for G-Spot stimulation. The slight upward curve and the pronounced head really did a good job for me with G-Spot stimulation. The one thing that I am kind of on the fence about is the ridge of the head is produces a popping sensation… which I don’t really hate… but was also kinda noticeable.
The suction cup base is also a cool feature of the Utopia. It wasn’t something we necessarily needed, but I don’t mind having it. It is a surprisingly powerful suction cup, I wasn’t expecting it to have the sticking power that it did. When I noticed it had a suction cup I proceeded to stick it to all the flat surfaces I could think of. I stuck it to the bathroom counter, I stuck it to the shower wall, I stuck it to our tv stand and I stuck it to the face of our clothes dresser. It stuck fabulously well to all of these surfaces. So, I definitely think its a dildo you could stick to the floor or other surface and ride with ease. We haven’t tried this yet, but it’s on my list of things to do.
The Lovely Planet Dilldolls comes in an absolutely fantastic range of colors. Smitten Kitten had three colors for us to choose from and that took a bit of brain power. We ended up with Utopia, which is a lovely pink to purple to blue gradient. Also available is Fantasia, which is kind of a peachy pink marbled color, and Glitzy which is a sparkly pink. Smitten Kitten’s website also lists Nightfall which is kind of a teal color with gold stars but I don’t think I saw that one in person at the store. Also worth a shout out is the holographic plastic packaging that this toy comes in. It’s a very nice touch, super shiny, very fun, and being the magpie that I am, I’m drawn to shiny things and was instantly in love with it.
TLDR? It’s small but mighty.
The Lovely Planet Dilldolls Utopia is a pretty basic dildo in design and small in size. It is definitely something that I would call a very beginner friendly toy as well as being a dildo that would be great to use as a warm up before taking on those larger toys. Even though it is pretty simple, it still boasts some great features, such as a pretty strong suction cup and a pronounced head for G-Spot and A-Spot stimulation. The price point is also just right, I went into the store figuring we would end up spending $80 to $100 on a good silicone dildo, but walked away spending right around $40 for the toy. I happily recommend!
